History of the Park

Umfurudzi Park is a Joint Venture between Zimbabwe Parks and Wild Life Management Authority (ZPWMA) and Pioneer Corporation Africa (PCA) to rehabilitate, conserve and sustainably operate the Umfurudzi Safari Area, signed on 31 August 2010.
The Umfurudzi Safari Area covers 760 square kilometers approximately 100km north east of Harare in Shamva district of Mashonaland Central and is a designated safari area in terms of the Parks and Wildlife Act.
The park has approximately 82km of the Mazowe River on its eastern and southern boundary, 35km of Gwetera River on the Nothern boundary and the Madziva communities under Chief Nyamaropa and Chief Bushu on the western boundary.
