Welcome to Umfurudzi Park

The Park covers an area of 76000 ha (760 square km) of incredible natural beauty and bio diversity.

The Park was formed in 1981, and is the first Park to be formed under the newly formed free Zimbabwe. The Park was officially opened by His Excellency President RG Mugabe in 1981....



There is a restaurant that serves basic meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks, beers, wines are available from the Bar which is open to residents and day visitors. 

Ablution Facilities


There is a public ablution facility at the Park Office, which is available to campers and daily picnic customers.


The Park Altitude ranges from 670m to 1100m above sea level, rainfall averages 550mm per annum starting in late November and ending in early April.

Umfurudzi Park has great archeological sites dating back to early settlement in Zimbabwe. Bushman painting are scattered throughout the park.

Umfurudzi has some very unique species. The Park had, in the early 1990s, black Rhino, it is the goal of Umfurudzi Park within 5 years to reintroduce this species.

Proceed down Enterprise Road. After Toll Gate, turn to left towards shamva. From toll gate proceed 100km (Tar Rd), through shamva town to Madziva Mine and Teachers Training College. At Madziwa mine turn right. Proceed approx 100m through shopping centre, Turn to left after flee market Proceed 150m, reach tar road, turn left Proceed 12km(Tar Rd) to Umfurudzi Park Gate Park Office 8km from Gate (Dust Rd) .Access by light motor vehicle sedan
